Kimberly Arroyo

Global Human Resources Coordinator New York

Responsibilities

My role in Human Resources (HR) is multifaceted and dynamic. I manage the payroll across the company globally, serve as the main contact for all benefits inquiries, and coordinate the recruitment process – including interviewing potential candidates. I am also responsible for the onboarding and offboarding of employees while supporting the management of our Human Resource Information System (HRIS).

Daily life

The varied nature of my role is why I enjoy it. Each day brings a new challenge or opportunity that allows me to expand on my skills. I run multiple ongoing projects simultaneously and get to use my problem-solving skills. The great thing about working in HR is that regardless of what we are talking about or working on, I can apply my previous experience and knowledge to new solutions or scenarios.

With offices in multiple locations around the world, my role requires me to work whenever needed. As a result, my phone is usually attached to my hip!

Working environment

My core focus is on people – whether it’s using systems and programs that impact them, communicating with them one-on-one to help solve a problem, or getting involved in an internal event to bring people together. We could be discussing new legislation that affects our employees, internal updates and changes, or expansion into new regions; I have learned to expect the unexpected!

I have been very fortunate to have travelled extensively during my time at Vela and hope to do some more of it soon. It is a passion of mine so I’m grateful for the opportunity. I’ve seen so much of the world, met some great people and have been exposed to different cultures while working in this role. Visiting the global regions at Vela has also allowed me to experience all areas of HR and the different laws and regulations for each location. It’s been a great learning experience.
